New Larger Inserts Enhance Performance in Parting, Grooving, and Turning Applications Across Various Materials

YG-1 has expanded parting & turn-groove range by introducing additional larger insert sizes, now available in widths of 5mm to 8mm. This latest development allows for greater performance and flexibility across a wide range of machining processes.
Designed with optimal chip breakers, these inserts are engineered for multi-purpose applications such as parting, grooving, side turning, face grooving, and internal grooving. The newly introduced sizes accommodate even more demanding tasks, making them a great solution for various workpiece materials.
The double-ended inserts are available in five different chip breaker designs, each designed for specific machining needs:
- TDN Chip Breaker: A first choice for general machining, the TDN chip breaker excels in parting and deep grooving applications, offering a stable cutting edge with medium to high feed rates.
- TDP Chip Breaker: Best suited for parting and deep grooving of soft materials, the TDP chip breaker delivers sharp cutting edges with low cutting forces, performing optimally at low to medium feed rates.
- TDY-GL Chip Breaker: Ideal for grooving and side turning, this chip breaker provides low cutting force and excellent chip evacuation.
- TDY-GM Chip Breaker: Designed for side turning, face grooving, and interrupted cuts, with wider grooves. This chip breaker provides stability at higher feed rates.
- TDY-RG Chip Breaker: This full-radius chip breaker is highly versatile, making it suitable for profile machining applications.
These five chip breaker options, when combined with YG-1’s new external holders and face grooving holders, provide enhanced performance, now further improved by the addition of larger insert sizes. The new sizes offer a broader range of applications and open up new possibilities for customers seeking efficient and reliable machining solutions.
